Linda Chavis' firefighter son, Jeffrey Vaden Chavis, died from injuries sustained in a house fire in 2001. Jeff began his firefighting career as an 18-year old volunteer firefighter for the Round Hill Fire Department. On July 12, 2001, he lost his life as a result of burns he suffered in the line of duty while fighting a home fire. The Chavis Family founded the Jeffrey Vaden Chavis House in 2002 to honor their son's memory.
