The Washington Fire Sprinkler Coalition is a group dedicated to promoting home fire sprinklers. This voluntary coalition is a resource for information about home fire sprinklers in the State of Washington. The Coalition remains active addressing issues from the Residential Fire Sprinkler Technical Advisory Group (TAG) report for HB 2575-2008, participating in the State Building Code Council, coordinating activities for sprinkler initiatives, and providing outreach to others about home fire sprinklers.
To join the coalition or for more information, contact coalition chair Jeff LaFlam, Fire Marshal of the Northshore Fire Department, at 425-354-1741.
Members of the Washington Fire Sprinkler Coalition convened during a meeting on June 17, 2014, at the Northshore Fire Department in Kenmore, Washington.
City of Camas Passes Ordinance for Home Fire Sprinklers
In 2016, the Camas City Council approved an ordinance to sprinkler the town's new, one- and two-family homes. Camas is the first Southwest Washington city to pass such an ordinance and joins a half-dozen Washington towns with a sprinkler requirement. Ad Campaign Prompted by Coalition Gets Local Attention
Made possible by NFPA's Bringing Safety Home Grant, the Washington Fire Sprinkler Coalition produced a poster campaign in 2015 that was launched inside Sound Transit Sounder trains. Covering nearly 70 miles and spanning three counties, these trains are used by commuters and sports fans heading to Seahawks and Mariners games. The ads underscore the importance of home fire sprinklers. Nearly 15,000 commuters are seeing the ads each day.
